Hawks Beat Hurricanes 6-1
The Hawks were supposed to have a home game this past Saturday, but that all changed with the strike.  Instead, the Hawks made the trip to St. Catharines, as they were able to host the game.  The Hawks were just happy to be able to get the game in.

The Hawks once again some some changes.  Forwards Ben McGowan and Camden Schaefer both moved back to defence, and Tyler Caswell and Matthew Klassen moved up to show what they could do as forwards.

The Hawks struck first with a power play goal from Justin Vandervelde off a rebound from a shot by Ryland MacPherson.  The Hurricanes would hold the Hawks off for the rest of the first, but the second period brought two more goals for the Hawks.  Vandervelde got his second goal of the game, and MacPherson got his first of the game.  Despite having three power plays in the second, the Hawks got both goals at even strength.

In the third period, Quintin Douglas started the scoring for the Hawks, and then line-mate Lucas Sousa netted a pair, with his second goal of the game coming with only 12 seconds left on the clock.

Defensively the Hawks were strong.  Parker Campbell once again had a superb game, breaking up plays and back-checking well.

Goalie Reggie Gignac had a great game in net.  He stayed focused throughout and made some key saves for the Hawks.  The shut-out got jinxed on the bench, and unfortunately the Hurricanes were able to get one past Gignac this game with only 2:14 left in the game.

The boys celebrated the victory in the dressing room with donuts thanks to Liam Lapierre.  Lapierre won a bet with Coach Dave Klassen and instead of taking the cash prize, Liam asked if Coach Dave could get donuts for the team.  Way to show the true definition of being a team player Liam!
