Valiant Effort in 2 Tough Games
The Hawks played their return games with Brantford And St. Catherines this week looking for improved results from their earlier contests.
The Hawks played two hard games against the mixed peewee squads and deserved better results as they fell 3-2 and 2-0 respectively. See below for results.

The Hawks hosted the mixed Peewee Brantford 99ers at the Cambridge Ice Centre in a rematch of an earlier 12-2 drubbing, in the first game of their season. The Hawks were game for this one as they challenged each shift and really showed how far they have come since the beginning of the season.
The first period brought chances in both ends and Brantford opened the scoring 5 minutes in to take the early lead.
The Hawks tied the game 3 minutes later as Cameron Squirrell banged home a Alec Frias shot and the first period ended 1-1.
The second period was saw Brantford score an early goal with a fortunate bank shot to take the lead and then pop in another goal before the period was through to lead 3-1 after two. The period play was even though as the Hawks hung in tough, battling each shift.
The third period was also back and forth but Cambridge put on the pressure the majority of the shifts and Nicholas Silva got the Hawks within one picking the puck off the boards and going in alone, beating the goalie high glove side. Ethan Weitzel picking up the assist on the goal.
The Hawks had 2 more chances to tie the game but fell short and the final was 3-2.

A great effort against a very tough team. The game definitely could have gone either way and unfortunately didn't go the way of the Hawks in this one.

Two nights later, the Hawks headed down to St. Catherines, who beat up on the Hawks 8-0 last time they met. Once again the Hawks battled against the mixed squad from St Kitts, and showed again the strides in improvement.
St. Catherines started off hot scoring 13 seconds into the game and a nice solo goal from their forward. That woke up the Hawks though who started to attack the Storm each shift.
The Hawks had their chances but the Storm goalie consistently came up strong making the big saves. Meanwhile, in the Hawks end, Adrianna Violi was shutting the door, making many saves, keeping the Hawks in the game.
Despite the hard efforts and many chances to score, The Storm put the nail in the coffin with a goal in the last 2 minutes to hold down a 2-0 victory.

A shout out to the defense core of the Hawks who played a stellar game and to Jared Main for taking a turn on defense and playing fantastic.

Cudos to the Hawks though hanging tough with these 2 very tough teams. Both games could have tilted either way and the Hawks are improving by the game. Many strides are being made and the hard efforts are starting to payoff.

Keep up the good work Hawks!
