Hawks Split the Weekend
The Hawks split the weekend games as they traveled to Chedoke Friday and came away with a 4-2 victory then visited Acton and dropped an 8-2 decision to the Chargers Saturday night. See below for game details.

The Hawks went into Chedoke Friday night shorthanded, as the flu bug mixed with a couple vacations, left the team with 2 lines to battle the Express.

The Hawks came out strong in the first period dominating the play. Brady Mackey scored a minute into the game getting the Hawks started on a pass from Cameron Squirrell.
The chances continued but The Hawks couldn't find the scoresheet but remained up 1-0 after a period. The Hawks held the Express to 1 shot during the period.

The second period started different as Chedoke tied the game early as an Express player buried home the rebound past Calvyn Dragun and we were knotted at one. The Express then took a 2-1 lead on yet another rebound mid way through the second. The Hawks had an answer as Squirrell knocked in a puck sitting in the crease with 10 seconds to go to tie the game at 2 heading to the third period. Jared Main picking up the helper on the tying goal.

The third period saw the Hawks blitz the Express early and Dylan Quigley got his first of the year, the eventual game winner, scoring a power play goal with a shot from the point giving the Hawks back the lead. Alec Frias and Owen King picked up the assists. Two minutes later, Frias potted a goal to jump the Hawks lead to 2, with King and James Mackey picking up assists on the goal.

From there, the Hawks shut the door limiting shots and the ones coming in, Dragun stopped and the Hawks left with 4-2 victory.

Saturday night, the Hawks visited the Acton Chargers short 4 players and using a pair of call ups for this tilt. The Chargers hammered the Hawks in their opening meeting and didn't let up in this one. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first minute of the game, as they caught the Hawks flat footed. The rest of the period was back and forth with chances at both ends but the no more scoring occurred and it was 2-0 after one. The didn't let up and went on to beat the Hawks 8-2 outplaying the Hawks the majority of the game. Tyson Verner and Zach Dolson
picked up the goals with Frias and Mackey picking up assists in the loss.

The Hawks will look to bounce back against Fergus in their next game followed by a pair against Burlington.
Keep up the good work Hawks!!
