Organization - Let your voice be heard by the City of Cambridge

We are asking you, the members of CMHA, to let City of Cambridge Council know that you support City owned ice-pads and that we cannot condone decisions that in anyway reduce the effectiveness of delivering our programs to our players.

Your voice can make a difference!!

For several decade Cambridge Minor Hockey (CMHA) has enjoyed an effective working relationship with our city staff and the front line workers at our arenas. This close working relationship has provided the youth of our city a safe and enjoyable environment in which to play and grow as citizens of Cambridge.

We at CMHA believe it is not in the best interest of our Members for the City to give up full control of the ice facilities our children play in by allowing privately owned facilities to replace city owned facilities.

We believe the best scenario for CMHA with the information we have about the city’s plan to close Dickson, Duncan McIntosh and Karl Homuth, is to twin a new pad with the existing Preston Aud ice surface and to add a twin pad to the proposed South Cambridge (East Galt) Multi-use facility. Currently CMHA runs 50% of our ice time out of Duncan McIntosh and Dickson arenas. This would allow CMHA to run a majority of its programming out of one location with office, training/meeting rooms and equipment storage centrally located. This would allow our program to move forward pretty much as it is now and be better equipped for years to come.

Please let Council know the following requirement of CMHA

1.      Replace the current three arenas slated for closure with City owned and operated facilities.

2.      Include in the design the centralization of CMHA office, storage and meeting spaces.

3.      The importance of consultation with CMHA and other ice users in the final design process.
