U18 Select Tryouts are Open tryouts.
I want to provide you with some information on what to expect for the tryouts and outline
what the season will look like for those players selected for the team.
Tryouts
There will be 2 tryouts as follows:
● Wednesday November 3rd 9:00-10:00PM @ Duncan McIntosh Arena
● Friday November 5th 10:00-11:00PM @ Duncan McIntosh Arena
The first tryout will be some drills and an intra-squad game, then the entire second tryout will be an intra-squad game. Please try to arrive at the rink half an hour before the ice time. There will be a spot outside to check in as there will be a $40 fee and each player will be assigned a piney. There will not be releases after the first tryout.
The team will be picked after the tryouts. The team list will be posted on the CMHA website by November 7th.
Season Overview
A lot more information about the Select program will be provided once the team is finalized but the main points are:
There will be 3 tournaments and 20 exhibition games.
o 1st tournament has been booked in Brantford Ontario, Nov 26th – Nov 28th
o 2nd tournament January/ February
o 3rd will be the Alliance Championships which takes place in April.
Weekly Wednesday practices (10-11pm) have been booked at Duncan McIntosh Arena until January and then Dickson Park Arena and can be found on the team website.
An initial team budget has the cost per player at $600.
There will be a team/parent meeting within a week of the team being selected to go over the above information. Please let me know by Tuesday November 2nd if your player will be coming out to the tryouts and what position they will be trying out for, this will allow me to organize the tryouts.
