Hawks Head to Game 3 All Tied Up
The Hawks will head to Kitchener tomorrow evening to try and take game 3 of the first round. The series currently sits all tied up at one game apiece. In game one the Hawks appeared a little nervous, but in the end, this one turned into a goaltender battle. Both teams had some excellent scoring chances throughout the game but it was the Junior Rangers that managed the only goal of the game resulting in a 1-0 final.

Owen Savory was excellent in net for the Hawks. Now comfortable with the task at hand there were no nerves to start game two. After being shutout in game one, the Hawks scored less than a minute into this one. Brett Wilson finished a beautiful three way passing play with assists going to Alex Takacs and Alex Ritchie. Takacs has done a fine job all year showing versatility in his ability to play both forward and defense. The Hawks made it 2-0 on another nice passing play when Paul Morra fed the puck to the point to Tyler Martin. Martin quickly slid the puck cross ice to parter Mitch Montgomery who wired a howitzer over the glove of the Ranger goalie.
Early in the third the Hawks made it 3-0 when Parker Wood's point shot found it's way through a screen and into the back of the net. Ritchie and Montgomery earned assists. But the Rangers did not give up and with under 5 minutes left they managed two goals, the first coming on a questionable "non-icing" call. But the Hawks persevered and were able to ice this one on Jake Wilkinson's empty netter. Assists went to Wilson and Nathan Bastian. Hayden Padlino played a strong game between the pipes for the hawks.
