Tough first week
Just 6 days after pulling the team together the boys took to the ice to face a well coached and highly skilled team from Meadowvale, Mississauga.  The score of the game is a little misleading.  Our team defensive play had several breakdowns that unfortunately exploited by a few of their above average players.  A key learning for the boys is to stay dedicated to their defensive responsibilities.

A few nights later we played our first road game against the Halton Hills Thunder.  The boys took their defensive roles seriously and took the game to the opposition.  Two scoreless periods were a testament to their hard work. Unfortunately two penalties mid-way through the last period resulted in 2 quick goals.  Lots of positives to take away from this game, and many things to build on.

Our final game of the week had us matched up against the Erin-Hillsburgh Bantam team.  The additional year of size and strength made for a very mis-matched game.  The boys deserved credit for keeping their composure against a team that clearly knew how to use their size and strength to their advantage.

As coaches we all know that there are games within a teams season, that you look and just say it wasn't our night. You turn the page, and hopefully come out to the next game with the confidence necessary to compete.

To all the boys don't get down, out of the 3 games the Halton game is the only game by which we should measuring our game.  If we stick together, learn our roles and play with heart we'll come out on top eventually.
