Hawks Take Cambridge MD Festival by Storm
The Hawks entered the Cambridge MD Festival on a high note just coming off a huge league win against Burlington.
They played their first game on Friday morning at Galt Arena starting off with a big win against the London Nationals, with a couple big saves on clean breakaways the goalie tandem of Colderley and Bevan had the Hawks leaving the rink with and 8-0 victory.
The second game was a little tougher as the Oakville Dragons came to the game with their claws out, it took a bit but with the hard work in our defensive zone, the hawks were able to take advantage of a torn breakout and score the first goal and never looked back. taking it to the Dragons 4-1
The Hawks kept the ball rolling in the 3rd game as all of Cambridge watch them battle with the Oakville Stars @ the Cambridge Mall. With the 2nd shutout of the tournament and the 3rd straight win the Hawks moved onto the semi finals Sunday.
The semi finals would see the Hawks facing off against the Dragons again, This time the Hawks refused to give them an opportunity to get into the game, with great defence from the tandems of Bradley and Lynch, Russo and Hutchinson and Merritt and Singh. The Hawks were able to seal the deal with a decisive 4-0 victory.
The Championship game would see a repeat of the first game as the Nationals doused the Huskies in their semi final game.
The Hawks came ready to play and started the scoring fast and furious. They never looked back with the lines of Carpenter, Labrecque and Fleury, Pettitt, Kent and Lapierre and Clyde, Pedersen and Paquette all hitting the score sheets multiple times the Hawks were able to take the Championship with a fantastic 11-3 win.
The boys did an amazing job with every member of the team getting on the game sheet overall record of 5-0 31 GF 4 GA and 3 Shutouts.
