HAWKS Set To Fly!!!
Over the last 5 months the Atom MD HAWKS have been preparing for their next 10 games...ladies and gentlemen WELCOME TO PLAYOFF HOCKEY!!!!
It's definitely great to be back! While I have been out of town for a bit I have stayed close to the results and in contact with the coaching staff and a few of the parents who have kept me up to date on the HAWKS! I'm back now as I would not miss the HAWKS' playoff run for anything! I started this season by saying there was something special about this team and I think we are about to see just what it is!
After getting points in their last 3 of 4 games and a good showing at the tournament last weekend in London these HAWKS seem primed and ready to go!! "I thought we had a great tournament last weekend" confirmed assistant coach Neil Fewster. "Our d-men seemed like they are starting to figure out just how important it is for them to close their gap. Our forwards are seeing the benefits of our d-men standing up the other team and turning pucks over at our blue line...we keep telling the boys defence creates offence."
"I for one am PUMPED!!!" indicated Coach Dave. "We have worked so hard this year and we have seen these boys improve so much, now its time to show our fans and the rest of the league just what an awesome team we have! From day 1 Craig and the staff have talked a lot about the TEAM concept and our boys get it! In fact, I think they have gotten the TEAM concept and now have become a family. These guys care a lot for each other, they pick each other up when they are down and they play hard for each other and THAT is exactly what a TEAM does and what a FAMILY does. These players get it and I am confident that's why they will do a great job in the playoffs...they will play for each other."
Personally, I love playoff hockey. I love to see the players take their game to a whole new level! I love to see players give that extra effort and I love to see them compete just as hard or harder with every game they play.
"Playoff hockey is what we work so hard for" described Coach Craig. "All those practices, all those skating drills, all those coverage drills THIS is what we do it for! Playoff hockey is so much fun...its when we see good players elevate their games to be GREAT players. In my opinion we will see our boys rise to the challenge. A few weeks ago we had a fun practice where we split the boys into 2 teams and competed against each other in a number of drills...the boys loved it! They had a lot of fun AND they were flying out there. They didn't realize it but they had one of their best practices of the year! WHY??? Because they had fun. They didn't worry about making mistakes and they played for their teammates. We can't be afraid of making mistakes in games. We need to be confident in our abilities and our teammates...when we do that and work our butts off we will win AND that is fun! Once they trust that the coach's know what they are talking about stick to the game plan we will be successful. Every game that we have won or competed in we have stuck to the game plan AND our boys have been AWESOME!! I'll tell ya right now...I AM PUMPED FOR PLAYOFFS!!!"
Well there ya have it...TEAM, FAMILY, EFFORT = SUCCESS = PLAYOFF HOCKEY = FUN!!!! I am so glad I got back to the city in time to see these HAWKS soar. I know they are a special team and we are about to see it. Got my tickets to see Game 1 in Hamilton and as we speak I am on the waiting list for tickets to the sold out show for Game 2 in Preston on Sunday...if anyone has an extra pair please contact HSN!!
