HAWKS Pound Vets!!!
What a GREAT start to a BIG weekend!!!  After a crappy trip down the 401 to face the Navy Vets from Woodstock, the weather was the furthest thing from the minds of the atom MD HAWKS!!!

"Today's win was HUGE for us!!  Our boys started a little slow but they finished hard" indicated a pumped up Coach Craig.  "It was great to see our boys play hard today.  We owed them a big win after they took it to us in London.  We didn't forget about it.  We played hard HAWKS hockey and we were rewarded for our efforts!!  I am very proud of our boys today...very proud!"

After a shaky start and an early goal by the Vets, the HAWKS bounced back right away to equal up the score.  Going into the game Coach Craig and Staff were quite excited because they finally had a full lineup...however late this morning Thomas Pap Papalia was a late scratch due to some health issues.  It's definitely unfortunate as Pap has played some strong hockey lately.  Hopefully we see him back in the lineup soon!

"Pap was out so we called up Monty and he stepped in and played great for us" mentioned assistant Coach Dave Brown about the late addition of AP player Brayden Monteiro.  "Hopefully Paps is ready to go tomorrow!"

"I thought all of our boys played well today" beamed Coach Craig.  "After last game we challenged a few guys to step up and by all means they did a great job today!!  Lloyder and Kitts played great games.  It was awesome to have Tuffy back!  I felt bad for Panny when he tried to play the puck early on and it took a bad bounce but he battled back and played great!  C-Mo did a lot of little things right today and was a leader on our blue line and of course that leaves Johnny Orr...Hank has been playing awesome for us lately.  He has improved so much this year and we couldn't be happier with his play.  Up front we had to move some things around today with Pap going down.  We knew there was a spark of chemistry the last time Monty was called up and he played with Fraze and Shaughny and they didn't disappoint again today.  I also thought that by putting The Rock on the line of Sous and Browny that gives us an added dimension and helped to balance out that line.  The entire line worked very hard and it was nice to see Sous pot a big goal.  That leaves the PB and J line - Pimmy, Brady and James.  They were great today.  Kowie is so good at holding onto pucks down low in the other team's end and now he is starting to dish it off at the proper time - finding Brady and/or Justin.  I also couldn't be happier for Hammer Time.  He certainly didn't disappoint today.  We switched up his and Rosie's starts as Rosie was scheduled to start.  We knew The Hammer wanted that game back from London and we knew he would battle hard for his teammates - he did just that!  Awesome to see Hammer play big and battle hard.  Awesome to see our entire team play big and battle hard!!  There are not many better feelings than a big win in a playoff game!"

A happy coach, a pumped up group of players and a loud fan section cheering on their HAWKS...what a great way to spend a Valentine's afternoon.  Hopefully Paps is back in the lineup tomorrow and all the boys are well rested and feeling their best as the HAWKS are back at it tomorrow evening when their hated rivals from Burlington travel to the Aud in Preston.  Rosie takes to the pipes tomorrow and will be a key role in the HAWKS big game!  Get your tickets folks it's sure to be a fun evening at the Aud.
