A Weekend To Remember!!
It was a wild weekend for the Select Hawks group. With a not-to-be forgotten Winter classic followed by a hugely successful Applebees fundraising event and capped with a home game with St.Catherines visiting. See below for details.

The weekend started with the Winter Classic in the outdoor arena in Puslinch. Despite warmer weather and the end of the ice melted a bit from the sun, the Classic went on and what a great game it was. Back and forth action, as the players weren't taking it easy on each other, both teams wanted to win. The game had everything, from penalty shots, to splashing water to great saves and great goals and then finally.....to a shootout to break a 7-7 tie!! It doesn't get much better.
Each player got on the scoreboard via goal or assist which only adds to the event. The goalies held strong and delayed the shootout until the third round before Cameron DeSousa backhanded a beauty top shelf to end the game and an 8-7 victory for the Cambridge Hawks Black Jersey.
Followed by a great bbq with tons of food and drink for all the parents and players. Thank you to all who helped make the bbq a success, it was great!

From one great event to another, the Applebees breakfast. With a great turn out of people and a huge array of prizes, combined with great service from the kids, made this a fantastic morning. What a great team bonding experience and watching the kids work together to help at any given moment. To having the players call out the winners of the prizes, every player having a prize to pick a winner for, who could ask for anything else. Thank you again to everyone involved, from selling tickets to get the crowd we had, to raffle tickets sellers to hostesses, to everyone who donated prizes. I cant thank everyone enough for helping make this event as great as it was.

Then it was onto business for the Hawks as St. Catherines was in town for a sunday night tilt.
The storm came out early and jumped to a 1 goal lead after the first period with play going back and forth. The second period belonged to the Hawks though as they fired in 5 goals to lead 5-1 after 2. They continued in the third by add two more goals as the Storm were able to get 1 and the score ended Cambridge 7 St. Catherines 2.

The Hawks were led by Cameron Squirrell who scored 2 goals and chipped in 2 assists. Other goal scorers were Brady Mackey with 2, Matthew Burtt, Zachary Dolson, and Freddie Law. Travis Nederpelt had 3 helpers, Nicholas Silva with 2 assists. Other assists going to Chloe Butler, Burtt, and Adam Floto.

Ryan Kilpatrick and Colin Matheson teamed up to help keep the puck out and once again the defence core of Floto, Butler, Matthew McConnell, Ben Resendes, Jagger Adams, and Cam Desousa played strong. Especially with some great outlet passing.

The Hawks will take their talents into erin next week for a home and home, cant wait!!
