Don't Stop Believing!
The Hawks were back in action on Sunday.  This time they battled the Waterloo Wolves White team, who sat atop the standings.

The Hawks won the first draw and pinged their first shot off the post!!  Despite getting shots on net from players like Nathan Lahey from the point; and a great offensive play from Tyler Caswell who skated the puck through bodies to the offensive zone, passed the puck and followed it into the corner to then make the pass out front, it was Waterloo who struck first.

The second period was evenly matched with each team getting just 4 shots on net.  Michael McIntyre was back to staying closer to the blue line, this time taking some hard slap shots at the net.  After a few Waterloo players got in front of those shots, buy the third or so time that Mikey wound up, they all parted giving him the free lane. Can't blame them for not wanting to get in front of that puck!  Lucas Sousa made some great cross-ice passes to Camden Schaefer this period, and Camden did a great job getting the puck into the offensive zone.

The third period brought some offence from the Hawks.  The Hawks started with a power play goal from Justin Vandervelde at 12:07.  The goal was assisted by Quintin Douglas.  Waterloo answered just over a minute later and the Hawks found themselves down 2-1.  With two minutes left on the clock, the bench staff was looking towards goalie Blake Fletcher and getting ready to bring him to the bench for the extra attacker.  They didn't get the chance, as that's when Ryland MacPherson tied up the game with a beauty goal!!  With less than two minutes to play, the Hawks kept pushing.  Ryan Silva took the puck in all alone and roofed a hard shot to give the Hawks the lead with 1:22 left.  The Hawks then shut down the Wolves, out-shooting them 14-9 in the third period.

This game really showed the Hawks keep battling and not give up.  Let's hold on to that feeling boys!!
