You did it! The first W of the season. W for win, wow and worth the wait.
We started out the weekend with a loss despite a stellar performance by FERNANDES. But it seems like the HAWKS wanted that victory more than ever on Sunday.
Team work and hustle had the HAWKS dominating the Rangers for most of the game. We took an early lead with BENDER scoring his first goal of the season and the HAWKS first goal in several games. WHYTE sprung on a breakaway and buried it past the Rangers goalie to make it a 2-0 game. HAWKS third goal was the result of some great fore-checking which had the puck being fed in front of the net and BENDER (2) ripping it into the top portion of the net. The HAWKS fourth goal was the result of a great end to end effort from GARDNER slicing through the defense to slip one by the Rangers goalie. HAWKS forward SHEWCHUK was able to slide another by the netminder to put the HAWKS in control for good.
Probably the most impressive goal of the night was scored by GILLIES who rifled the puck from the boards right past the goalie to notch the final goal of the game for our HAWKS. Goes to show you that when you put the puck on the net anything can happen!!!
Shout out for the great job between the pipes for MATHESON as well!
