Weekend Warriors
Our HAWKS started the weekend off with an early morning pre-game skate Saturday morning then made the trek south down 24 HWY to play the 99ers from Brantford.

Home town officiating contributed to the 99ers first goal of the game on a PP, our HAWKS did not give up though and kept forcing the play at Brantford. With the score 2 to 0, WESTWOOD hit the score sheet with a nice goal closing the gap to 2 to 1.  Our HAWKS kept fighting but unfortunately came out on the losing end losing 3 to 1 as Brantford added an empty netter with seconds to go in the game.

Sunday had the HAWKS back at the old Galt Arena Gardens.  The HAWKS were hosting Woodstock and looking to put a W on the board.  HAWKS jumped out to a 1 to 0 lead off the hot hand of #3 WESTWOOD.  The visiting team would score one to have the teams knotted at 1 heading to the 2nd frame.  Hard work and aggressive play saw POWER score early in the 2nd making the score 2 to 1.  In what would be referred to as a “JOE SAKICISH” wrist shot, BELBECK made the score 3 to 1 with our HAWKS playing some great 2 way hockey.  With both teams battling hard in the 3rd it was Woodstock scoring early and late to tie the game up at three with 31 secs left to play and the game ending in a 3 to 3 draw.

An impressive weekend of hockey was played by all and oh so close to notching a victory.

There are a couple practices this week before welcoming the Burlington Bulldogs to the Gardens at 5 pm on SUPER BOWL SUNDAY.  Those who are not wearing their HAWKS gear should wear their PATRIOTS shirts, hats etc.  If you do not have any, we know of a family who might have extras.
