Busy and Fun Weekend For All
HELLO HAWKS FANS!

Our HAWKS started the weekend off with a visit to Kitchener on Friday night where we played the Jr Rangers.

SHEWCHUK started the scoring for our HAWKS with a beauty over the goalie’s shoulder making it 1-0.

Kitchener tied the game a bit later on a SH goal, making the score 1-1.

HAWKS had some chances but the Kitchener team was pressing the play, throwing everything they had at FERNANDES.  However our net minder was up for the test, shutting the door on all shots thrown at the net to have the final remain at 1-1.

Moving on to Saturday, the HAWKS travelled to Hamilton to take on the Huskies. We pressed hard for the first period but could not manage to get one past the Hamilton goalie, at the end of the first the score was 1-0 Hamilton.

Second period did not bring much good luck to our HAWKS as the Huskies kept up the pressure and got out to a 4-0 lead, it could have been a larger margin but MATHESON was solid.

HAWKS broke the shutout with BELBECK pouncing on a rebound in front of the net making the score 4-1.  HUSKIES added 1 more and walked away with a 5 to 1 victory.

Night game saw the talents of the MOMS exposing their fast skating and tenacious defensive play (* terms used loosely *) as the HAWKS faced off against the HAWKY moms.

The game was filled with laughs and great efforts by all the moms participating. Congrats to MCLEOD, sister FERNANDES, SHEWCHUCK, GILLIES and BRAGANGA on their goals for the moms.

In the finale of the weekend our HAWKS hosted the Wolves of Waterloo. Our HAWKS found the penalty box multiple times on questionable calls seeing Waterloo capitalize on a couple 5 on 3 opportunities. When the final whistle was blown the HAWKS came out on the losing end of a 5-0 game.

It was a very busy and fun weekend for all.  Special thanks to coach John for taking on the ref role for moms vs sons, coach WHYTE and MATHESON for coaching the moms (*laughing at the moms*) and coach Mark and coach Matt and coach WESTY for probably convincing the kids to not tackle every mom they saw.

See you all at the rink this week for a practice, development session and games this weekend!  Let’s start a new winning streak!
