HAWKS Prey On Huskies
Well, it has been one busy and exciting week for the Minor Atom AAA team. It all started on Sunday night when the Hawks faced Hamilton in their second pre-season game. The Huskies arrived at the Hespeler arena looking to avenge their previous 4 -2 loss. But, after a strong warm-up and some motivational words from an iconic 90s rapper, they hit the ‘Ice, Ice, Baby’ flying.

Eight minutes into the game, Hamilton opened the scoring on a difficult screen shot for the goalie to handle.  With 4 minutes remaining in the first, Cambridge knotted the game at 1 with a goal from the birthday boy, Pragnell, on a perfect feed from Natale. The defence continued to battle hard while Quirk made a beauty glove save to end the first period. Early into the 2nd period, with his family from Newfoundland watching, Quirk was called on to defend a 3-on-1 by Hamilton, and he rose to the occasion. The period ended with a tie score. After winning some hard fought 1on1 battles the momentum clearly shifted in the HAWKS direction.  The offence turned on their forecheck and played most of the third period in Hamilton's end.  And, with 3:09 left on the board, Pragnell made his birthday wish come true by scoring his second goal of the night securing the win for Cambridge!
