Toe Drags and Failing Forward
Sunday night saw the HAWKS hold their second game of the regular season vs the Huron Perth Lakers. The HAWKS took to the ice strong, scoring first when Riley Bender found the back of the net.  After the Lakers answered with a couple of their own, Gillies tied the game up at the end of the first with a beauty assist by Hobson...

The second period saw the Hawks working hard to regain their foothold, and Shewchuk handled the pressure with a goal on his penalty shot to end the period 4-3 for the Lakers. While the HAWKS showed intensity and fight in the first two periods, the third period saw the HAWKS fall prey to the infamous toe drag. But like all true athletes, the HAWKS did not allow the loss to define them. Instead, the HAWKS are working to “win their losses” by looking at them as an opportunity to learn, adjust and improve. Losing, or failing, is an important part of the long journey to success, and learning to fail forward is something that all excellent players, like the players on this team, must learn to do. As the great Bobby Orr once said, ‘You don’t win by being good. You win with hard work and sacrifice. Without that, skill is just potential’.
