It
sure has been an exciting journey for these Minor Atom AAA athletes. The Team
ended an exciting tournament in Niagara Falls with a 3-0 shutout of the
Brantford 99ers.
And while winning isn’t everything, it does bring a lot of smiles and praise, and goes a long way to shifting the mind-set of young players. What this group of athletes have learned over the past few months, is that winning isn’t about who scores goals or saves them, but instead is the result of a team working together. It is about a group of nine-year-old athletes who learn to truly play as a team by trusting one another to be there, to realize that a puck goes farther faster by passing. It is about battling hard to keep lanes clear, while all the while protecting the house. It is about giving 110% - even when you think you have nothing left to give – and most of all, it is about maintaining a love and joy for the sport. It is about being and playing like a team!
This group of athletes continue to strive and WIN together. This weekend our team is coming together to help raise money, food, and most importantly, awareness for the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank. On Saturday November 24th, the team will be volunteering their time to work at the Cambridge Food bank. On Sunday, November 25th, the kids will continue their work by collecting cash and dry good donations at their home game. These athletes are not only learning about the importance of helping and supporting the community they belong to, they are also learning the value of working together to achieve something bigger than themselves – the gift of giving back.
On Sunday November 25th at 1pm come on out to Galt Arena Gardens to watch and support this special group of kids play against the Lampton Jr. Sting.
