Stoney Creek: Ace Bailey Tournament Champions
Hawks win their tournament in Stoney Creek with a 4 to 1 victory over Oakville.

Cambridge Minor Bantam MD Hawks were victorious at the recent “Ace Bailey” OMHA AE tournament in Stoney Creek. The Hawks went 4 and 1 over the weekend, defeating the Oakville Rangers for the Tournament Championship.
In the first game of the tournament, Christian Ferraro, completed a Hat Trick effort with an overtime goal to defeat the Hamilton Blue Huskies 5 to 4. Other goals were scored by Jace Smith and Camden Naylor.
In game two, the Hawks suffered their only loss of this young season with a 2 to 1 overtime defeat to the host Stoney Creek Warriors – Adam Tunnicliffe scoring the lone Cambridge tally.
Cambridge took that defeat in stride and steamrolled the Pickering Panthers with a 6 to nothing win, Pierce Waigh earning the shutout. Cambridge scorers were Josh Loewen, Branden Gawal, Anthony Russo, Jalen Wegener, Ferraro and Naylor.
In the semi-finals, Cambridge faced the Flamborough Sabres and the Hawks held off a furious late game attack to preserve a 3 to 2 victory. Brodie Merritt was stellar between the pipes, while goals were scored by Alex Verbeem, Smith and Loewen.
The final with Oakville was a hard fought close battle for the first period but the Hawks intensified their forecheck and sealed the deal with a convincing 4 to 1 win. Two goals were scored by Verbeem, while Tunnicliffe and Loewen pitched in with singles.
Throughout the tournament, solid set-ups were provided by Alex Fullerton, Nicholas Taylor and Josh Grasso. While the usual stellar back-end defense was led by Liam Turchin, Joe Lemieux, Chris Skilton and Branden Gaudet.
