Stepping Up When It Counts
On Saturday the Hawks played their last game at Dickson for this season.  The Hawks faced off against the Waterloo Wolves White team; a team they were tied with for first place in the standings.

The Hawks were without Ryan Silva, Michael McIntyre and Tyler Caswell.  Luckily, they had Nico Fernandes, Maeve Haskell and Tristan Nagel to call-up and fill-in.  The three call-ups each had great games.

The Hawks first goal came when Camden Schaefer had the puck in the corner and threw it out to Nico Fernandes.  Fernandes was taken down and the referee's hand went up to call the penalty.  Nico was able to keep control of the puck and passed it to Andrew Quarrie out front.  Quarrie put the one-timer in for the Hawks first goal of the game.

Parker Campbell earned the assist on the Hawks' second goal of the game.  Campbell passed it to Quintin Douglas who muscled his way through and put the puck in.

With the game tied at two and less than two minutes left on the clock, Ryland MacPherson put a rocket into the net, top corner.  The puck hit the back netting and came right back out and play continued as the referee waved off the goal.  The ref later said that the puck hit the crossbar and there was no goal.  After the game Waterloo parents, who had  better vantage point, were overheard saying they got lucky on that call because it was definitely a goal.

Reggie Gignac had a phenomenal game and made some amazing saves throughout.

This tie kept the Hawks tied with Waterloo White for first place in the standings with each team having one game left.

Firefighter helmets went to Reggie Gignac and Justin Vandervelde.
