Parents of U12
CMHA has received many emails regarding the fact that there is not a U12 select team. Every year CMHA posts that we are looking for coaches for house league and select. CMHA posted to the website and social media that we were looking for Select Coaches on August 10th and that the cut off date is August 31st. CMHA did not have any applicants for the U12 select team. In fact, we had to go to the arena and beg for house league coaches. Thankfully there were 2 willing volunteers that stepped up to coach a team or we would not have been able to even have a U12 division! We do find some years certain age groups struggle for teams, as there are just not enough registrants and/or skill level to offer certain teams.
We understand your frustrations but preparation for a select team takes planning before the season starts and unfortunately, we did not have anyone step up. The U13 coach was asked to then include U12 players so they had an opportunity, which he did as 7 of the 17 are u12 players.
We have had a few emails indicating there is a coach willing to step up, but again no one did. Tryouts were scheduled and ice (which is extremely hard to obtain in Cambridge) given out to the coaches who applied and were given a team. Unfortunately, it is too late now. Tryouts are done and teams are picked. Most cities have already booked their season's games and the season is underway.
We hope you understand that currently we are not able to move forward with a U12 Select team as the cutoff dates have passed. We do encourage you to have your coaches/volunteers apply for a select team as soon as we open for applications, so this does not continue.
CMHA has made this decision based on all the information at hand, no further discussions will be entertained going forward.
