Week 11 Results
The drama of the season continued to unfold.  The Penguins remain the team to beat heading to the Christmas tournament, there were a number of stand out performances and the were some oddities that occurred.

In the first game of the day the Habs found themselves without a goalie due to an equipment issue and as a result they borrowed a goalie from Novice for the first period.  The high flying Penguins need few advantages and took full advantage of this netting 6 goals before the ice seemingly dried after the initial flood.  The momentum changed after the Habs got their regular goalie back but the deficit was too large and they fell 9-3.  The Penguins Justin Willsie recorded a hat trick and Tyrus Morrisette came close to doing the same thing.  On the Habs side of the ledger it was the hard work of Tristan Garnder-Schafer and Cole Pearson that stood out as they both recorded goals driving hard to the net.

In the second game of the day the Flyers came out skating hard and caught the sharks a little flat footed.  They jumped out to an early 2-0 in the first period lead thanks largely to Ben George, who scored both goals and has 5 of his 8 goals this season in the 3 games he has played versus the Sharks.  From then on it was Logan Gorman show in net as he simply blanked the Shark sharp shooters shutting out one the divisions higher scoring teams.  It was the second shutout in the division this year.  The Sharks never seemed to find their offensive game  in the face of persistent Flyer checking and were fortunate for defensive efforts like those provided by Andy Colishaw and Michael Metcalfe on the blueline.

In the final game of the day Bruins prevailed 4-3 over the Leafs, but it was a hard luck type of game.  The Leafs' Luke Meadus started the game on fire recording the natural hat trick in the first 8 minutes of the game.  From then on the reliable defense of the Bruins Jeffrey Favaro (1g) took over and the comeback began in the second.  A goal allowed after the whistle had loudly blown and then the game winner on an obvious offside play was heartbreaking for the Leaf bench and fans in the stands.  Both teams played well enough to win - indeed the Bruins were full measure for not giving up and continuing to work hard - but the frustration of the Leafs with the officials is understandable.  Really the only lesson the players can take from this is the old adage that the referrees may not be right but they are never wrong.
