Week 15: Sharks go to London Blue & White Tournament
This week was an off week for the House League as we have yet to resume the regular season after the Christmas Tournament.  The Sharks took the opportunity to send 11 boys to the London Blue and White Tournament.

In the first game the Sharks showed how battle worn they were from the stiff competition in our Christmas League.  They came out firing on all cylinders against the London Bombs and cruised to a 9-1 win.  All eleven skaters recorded at least a point with Janson Duench leading the charge with 3 goals and 2 assists, despite having pneumonia!

In the second game the Sharks showed no signs of letting up and dropped the hammer early against the London blue Bullets with a trio of goals in the first minute.  Once again every single skater made it to the score sheet in a 13-1 win.  Huge numbers wer eput up by Gage Rus (4 g, 2 a) and Dylan Corrigan (4 g, 3 a).

A late night of partying in the hotel pool, mini sticks and Pokemon battles may have caught up with them by Saturday morning.  The Sharks faced a team from Oakville which was as fast as any they have ever faced and were caught flat footed.  Five penalties and some bad breaks had us down 2-0 before we knew what was going on.  Were it not for defensive plays by Zach Braga, Josh Wettlaufer, Kaden moco and Ben Farrell, this game might have gotten ugly.  By the second the forward found their legs and the game was tied up early in the third.  A relentless attack by Oakville paid off with a pair of late goals to steal the win from a group of very unsatisfied Sharks.

The fourth game then became a must win to ensure the Sharks made it to the finals without relying upon any tie breaking criteria.  In true workmanlike fashion the Sharks set out to dismantle the London Flyers.  A hatrick by Ben Farrell, 4 goals by Dylan Corrigan, 4 assists by Ryan Melrose and 6 assists by Daniel Hernandez were more than enough in terms of offence and Aiden Fuller simply refused to let the puck get by him.  The result was a commanding 10-0 win.

That set the stage for a rematch between the Oakville Stingers and Sharks in the final today.  An early goal by Oakville did not rattle the Sharks at all as they simply got down to business.  Three straight goals by Gage Rud, Mark McGuire and Daniel Hernandez put the Sharks out front 3-1.  Repeated drives down the ice by Oakville were turned away by a stingy defence corps and ultimately by the brilliants saves of Aiden Fuller.  A late goal added to the drama but the Sharks prevailed 3-2.  Aiden Fuller was voted game MVP by the Oakville coaching staff - a truly deserving honour - but in the minds our the Shark coaching staff their were 11 MVPs.

The Shark coaches and Shark parents are grateful to the sportmanship, skill and effort displayed by these Shark boys.  Great job!
