Regular Season Ends
The regular season ends with the LEAFs on top.

For the final regular season games on Saturday February 19, we had two one goal games and a tie.

The Penguins and Habs got off to a late start with our first no show for a referee.  A substitute was found and the game started about 15 minutes behind schedule. It was well worth the wait as both  teams display end to end action. The Penguins #11 Bryce scored his second goal of the game and the game winner. Also contributing to the Penguin score sheet was #15 Kyle, #12 Owen with a goal each and #12 Owen #14 Brandon, #5 Ethan with assists.  On the score sheet for the Habs was #6 Ryan (two goals) #12 Jordan (one goal) and #8 Hunter, #2 Lucca, #4 Michelaela with assists.
The Bruins and Flyers squared off for their final regular season play. It was a close match all the way through with each goal getting answered. The Bruins opened the scoring with and goal by #8 Ethan, assisted by #6 Jadon.  The Fllyers #4 Brett answered. Late in the second Bruins #8 Ethan scored again assisted by #16 Brett to go up 2 to 1.  In the third it was Flyers #7 Aiden answering the goal. Assisted by #5 Joel and #9 Christopher.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.  This left the Flyers and Leafs tied for first in the standings with the Leafs playing the next and last game.
The Leafs needed a win/tie against the Stars to take first place in the standings. It was tight hockey with scoring chances going back and forth. The Leafs #15 Tyson banked the first goal of the game assisted by #8 Zachary. Then Leaf's #3 Jesse pick up the second goal. The Stars came back and answered with a goal by #16 Owen.  In the third period the end to end scoring chances continued and with 5 minutes left the Stars #16 Owen to bring the Stars to within one. In the final minute the Stars pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. The pressure was on and the Leafs were contained in their end but the Stars couldn't place the puck to the back of the net and time ran out. It was the Leafs with a 3-2 victory and a lone claim to first place in the regular season.
Congratulations to the LEAFS on their first place finish for the regular season!
