Novice Select Hawls visit the Cambridge Armoury
At the beginning of the hockey season, head coach Gabe Dutto of the Cambridge Novice Select Hawks issued a challenge to his team. Players had to choose a local Poppy Street, research the soldier it was named after, and present a 2 – 3 minute presentation after each game to earn their jersey.
Because of this initiative, this is the first time that camouflage jerseys have been approved for use within the Cambridge Minor Hockey Association.
On the evening of January 26th, 2017, the players gave custom camouflage jerseys to the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada, as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Branches 121, 126, and 272 at the RHFC Armoury.
This was a wonderful opportunity to highlight the importance of teaching our children the important work that the Canadian Forces has, and continues to do for our country.
