Bantam A Hawks Soar Over U.S. Competition
The Cambridge Hawks Major Bantam A/AA team recently travelled to Buffalo and came away as champions of the 14U AA Harborcenter Cup.

The Hawks toughest game was their first one against the North Jersey Avalanche.  Cambridge jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead but needed strong defence and goaltending to fend off the North Jersey push in the 2nd and 3rd periods.  The final score remained at 3-0.

The Hawks came out flying in their second game against the Steel City Renegades and built up a 6-0 lead before the game was 10 minutes old.  From there the Hawks cruised to a 7-2 win.

The final game of the round robin was against the Amherst Knights with Cambridge needing the win to secure a semi-final birth.  Cambridge wore down the Knights, outshooting them 51-11, and eventually came away with a 4-0 victory.

The semi-final was against the Cleveland Barons.  Cambridge penalties kept this game closer than it should have been with the Barons twice narrowing 2 goal deficits down to 1.  Cambridge scored with just over a minute left to secure a 4-2 win.

The finals pitted Cambridge against the also undefeated Huskies Hockey Club out of Chicago.  Cambridge scored 1 minute into the game and never looked back, adding 2 more in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd.  The solid 4-0 win netted Cambridge the championship of the 16 team tournament.
