If your child is trying out for one of our rep teams for the 2025-2026 season, here is all of the information you need to know and understand about the new evaluation process.
STEP 1: REGISTER & PAY FOR TRYOUTS
All players attending tryouts must be registered and paid before attending or stepping on the ice.
To register for our Evaluations - Please Click Here
PRICE:
The cost for player evaluations is $75 per level.
You are only guaranteed one skate any any level before a coach is permitted to release you.
A separate player evaluation pass is required for purchase at each level (AAA, A/AA, B/BB). For example, if your player purchases an evaluation pass for AAA for $75 and is released, you would then need to purchase an additional evaluation pass for $75 for the next level (A/AA).
Please note that participant pre-registration is mandatory. Failure to do so will result in the participant being denied access.
The tryout registration will remain open throughout the tryout window so you can register part-way through tryouts but you should be prepared to show proof of registration and payment when checking in.
Tip: There are no requirements for additional paperwork (F1 waiver, permission to skate, non-resident passport) under the new OHF Freedom of Movement. Players are free to register with any OHF minor hockey association for evaluations.
Tip: The link to register for tryouts is HCR/Spordle which is the same platform used to register for the regular season so you should have a username/login already
STEP 2: ATTEND YOUR SCHEDULED TRYOUT TIME
All evaluations are scheduled by age group (example, U10) and division (example, AAA).
Be sure to review the schedule carefully. Players should arrive on time, dressed, and ready to go for all evaluations until/unless they are released by the coach.
View the Evaluation schedule here: 2025-2026 Evaluation Schedule
As per the OHF 2025-2026 Seasonal Calendar Dates, evaluations are scheduled as follows:
U10, U11, U12, U13
AAA: April 19-April 25 (7 days)
AA/A: April 26-May 2 (7 days)
B/BB: May 3 - May 9 (7 days)
U14, U15, U16, U18
AAA: April 21-April 27 (7 days)
AA/A: April 28-May 4 (7 days)
B/BB: May 5 - May 11 (7 days)
Our U8 MD & U9 MD teams are scheduled to take place in the fall. Details for this will be posted in August. Please check back for this information.
Tip: Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time in order to allow for check in
STEP 3: PARTICIPATE IN TRYOUTS
This is your chance to show off your skills. Coaches and their independent evaluators will be evaluating skills, hockey sense, attitude, work ethic, and more.
Go out there and shine!
STEP 4: CHECK COACH COMMUNICATION
Coaches will be using their team websites to post regular tryout updates, game line ups, player releases, and other important information. CHECK THESE REGULARLY!
Tip: To access the team sites, click on the 'TEAM FINDER' below the Alliance logo on the top left of the website's main page and choosing the appropriate team

STEP 5: OFFERS SENT BY EMAIL
Players will no longer sign a piece of paper as they did in the past. All player offers will be sent by the coach via email.
If your player receives an offer - follow the instructions in the email to accept the offer.
Tip: You will only receive a short window to accept an offer so make sure you check your email and junk mail regularly
STEP 6: COMPLETE REGISTRATION = TEAM COMMITMENT
If your player receives and offer from the coach and chooses to accept it, the offer email will include a link.
The link will direct you to the
(Hockey Canada Registry) site.
This is the same site where you registered for tryouts and also register for your hockey season each year
This is the step that registers your child with the team and confirms their commitment for the upcoming season.
Tip: There will be a fee populated when registering. Payment IS NOT due at this time. To defer your registration payment follow these steps: Select Pay in Full, Proceed to Checkout, Choose External Payment as the Method and Pay
