Congratulations U11 A/AA Hawks
What an incredible first tournament for our U11 A/AA Hawks!

We opened strong on Friday morning with a 6–1 win over the West Niagara Flying Aces, followed by another convincing 7–2 victory against the Glancaster Bombers early Saturday.

Saturday evening’s matchup with the Kingston Canadians was a battle through two periods, but in the third our Hawks pulled away for a 4–1 win, clinching our 1st place spot in the semifinals.

Sunday came early with a 7:15 a.m. rematch against the Flying Aces. Hats off to West Niagara, who pushed hard all game. We struck early and clung to a tight 1–0 lead until late in the third, when we added some insurance to make it 2–0. As the final buzzer sounded, we punched our ticket to the championship!

Walking into the rink for game five, our Hawks were ready for the challenge. We entered the finals with 17 goals for and just 4 against, riding high after a dominant run. But we knew the Barrie Colts were no easy opponent. Barrie finished second in last year’s Hespeler Early Bird tournament and finished their season 25–1.

The Colts came out flying, scoring quickly on a beautiful setup from behind the net. From there, it was a hard-fought three periods. Our Hawks never stopped battling, but today the better team won. Congratulations to Barrie on their 4–0 victory.

Us coaches are proud of every single player on this team. We’re a brand-new group, still getting to know each other, yet we showed tremendous effort, skill, and heart this weekend. To win a silver medal in an early bird tournament is such an incredible accomplishment.

A huge thank-you to our players for leaving it all on the ice, and to our parents for making sure our Hawks showed up well rested and ready to go.

This is just the beginning! We can’t wait to see what the season ahead brings.

GO HAWKS!!!
