Happy Thanksgiving!
This is our second weekend of competition. Our teams will start to settle into a groove!

Here are a few updates before we get into the weekend…

Team names and scheduling

It appears that most of the wrinkles have been ironed out of the schedule and team names.  The league has populated games / practices into most of the season.  Please continually check the website as ice assignments can change.

Call to volunteer

As you are aware, we need volunteers to help make things run smoothly.  One of the ways you can help out is to time-keep (solo or with a partner).  We need timekeepers to make a game happen! It is the responsibility of the home team to provide a timekeeper for each game.  Please volunteer… it is not difficult to start and stop the clock and to record what the ref’s communicate in terms of penalties / goals.

Incident reporting

There is a standard process to be followed when communicating with the league. It is our commitment to ensure that everyone involved with the Cambridge Minor Hockey House league program is treated with fairness, respect, dignity and that their experience is an enjoyable one.   If you have any comments and concerns that your Parent Rep or Coach cannot address, please contact me. As in the past, we usually recommend a 24 hour “cooling” period before you click send or submit an incident form.

Any threats or abusive behavior directed at or by Team Officials, Players, Game Officials, Parents, Arena staff or any other member of Cambridge Minor Hockey must be brought to the attention of the VP of House League.

Bantam Select Team

Several parents have asked about the House League Select (HLS) team.  Rob Melo is our Select coach for this year.  He has informed me that the tryouts will be conducted on and around the weekend of November 1st. (most likely November 1st and 3rd)

The league has a defined selection process that is administered by and through the Convenors, Coaches, Select Coach and external evaluators. We remind you that tryouts are by invitation and notifications of invite will be sent out the last week of October.  Please continue to check the website for updates (both HL and HLS categories).  Having ~month of league play before HLS evaluations affords the opportunity for new and returning players a chance to showcase their abilities in game and practice situations.

More details to come as we get closer to the date.

Have a great long weekend and see you at the rink!
