Mumps, (Illegal) bumps and lumps of coal.
A few reminders before we head into the last weekend of regular season hockey for 2014.

Christmas tournament

Good news!  The Association was able to secure ice at Galt Arena Gardens over the break.  All games that were going to be held at Dickson have been moved to Galt Arena Gardens.

Furthermore, it is very important for you to inform your coach if you are not going to be available for any games for the tournament.

Dressing room etiquette

As you are aware, there is an infectious virus spreading throughout the NHL.  It is a good reminder that we need to take all precautions necessary to protect our children.  Please remind them to have their own (clean) water bottles, not to spit (especially in the dressing room) and conduct themselves in a hygienic fashion.  Please, if ill, take a break to recover!  The break is a good opportunity to wash / sanitize equipment!

Aggression on the ice

As mentioned before, harassment and physically aggressive/abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.  We understand that the Children may not always respond well to direction, so we have communicated specific concerns to the officials and coaching staff.  Remind your child that aggression, outside of hard, fair and legal effort, is not allowed.  Taunting, trash-talking, and other unsportsmanlike behaviours will also not be tolerated.   Furthermore, they should be aware that, after receiving 3 penalties in one game, they will be ejected from the game and get a lump of coal.

This extends to beyond game play… remind your child of their obligations to the team in being respectful, attentive and encourage them to follow direction during dressing room addresses and practices.

January Games

January kicks of tournament season and our mid-season house league lull.  We, as a league, have three Saturdays and two Sundays off.  If you are missing your hockey fix, here are some of the Cambridge Winter Hawk games you could attend at the old barn.  Come out and cheer on the hometown team and finally get a chance to use those Player Membership cards!
