Responding to the call...
Good morning all.

It’s been a week where hockey has not been front and center.  Be sure to catch (PVR) the simultaneous tribute the NHL is organizing before the Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal games this evening.

Only a couple quick points for this weekend.

The Call to Participation

We are still struggling to fill the timekeeper roles for some teams.  As mentioned before, this is a required function in order to have a “valid” game.  The home team is responsible for providing the timekeeper.

It is a simple request that is made even easier if the tasks are shared by 2 individuals.  It is also a great opportunity for students to acquire high school volunteer hours - so spread the word!  Please don’t be nervous! If you are a little unsure, I am more than willing to provide a tutorial and support at the bench until you become comfortable.

The Call for Select

This is the second (and last) weekend that Coach Melo has his external evaluators watch league play.  As mentioned before, the select tryouts begin next weekend (Specifically 8AM on Saturday and 9:30PM on Monday – as of this posting). Invitations will be sent out early this week (likely a call or email).  We expect all notifications to be made by Wednesday evening.

League Player Movement

We are currently still in the in the process of closely monitoring league play.  As in other years, the league always waits until early November before freezing the rosters.  After the rosters are frozen, the teams are free to coordinate the process of obtaining names on Jerseys.

I believe all teams will have played 6 Games after the weekend of November 2nd.  We will then evaluate several factors to determine what, if any, player movements will be required to ensure the most competitive and fun play for the Children.

Have a great weekend,
Eric
