Getting to know Coach John:
What inspired you to become a hockey coach?
My excitement to coach minor hockey is driven by a deep passion for the sport and a desire to make a positive impact on young athletes. I enjoy watching players grow, both on and off the ice, and helping them develop a lifelong love for hockey while building their confidence and character.
How do you foster team culture?
Fostering a strong team culture is essential for creating a positive and cohesive environment where players can thrive. By focusing on elements like open communication, promoting team work, and celebrating success, you can cultivate a strong unified team that works hard together, supports one another, and builds lasting relationships
What does it feel like to be coached by me?
Being coached by me feels motivating and supportive, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, work ethic, and building a positive team culture. I strive to create an environment where players feel valued and encouraged to grow, both as individuals and as part of the team. I encourage players to push themselves while also teaching them the value of persistence and resilience in the face of challenges.
What do you want your players to learn or take away from this season?
Ultimately, I hope they not only improve as hockey players but also grow as individuals—becoming more disciplined, confident, and respectful both on and off the ice. My goal is to focus on many different key elements to develop & support them as they navigate through their hockey careers.
