INTRODUCING OUR U18 A/AA HEAD COACH FOR THE 2025-2026 SEASON
TERRY CORBIN
Getting to know Coach Terry:
What inspired you to become a hockey coach?
Being a coach for over 30 years and coaching well over a 1000 games as a head coach at various age groups and levels, including 7 years at the junior level, it’s still fun to come to the rink and share my passion and knowledge with those players who still want to learn and advance their hockey journey. I obtained my High Performance certification in 1994 and remain active in furthering my coaching experience through coaching symposiums and conferences. Learning, whether is gaining knowledge in my profession as a social worker or hockey, is part of my life journey. Hockey has created some great memories and friendships that I will always cherish.
What do you want your players to learn or take away from this season?
It’s rewarding to see players increase their hockey skills and knowledge and go on to play at a higher level. The players that make it have passion for the game, come to the rink to work hard, have good habits and are good teammates. They respect boundaries, appreciate the time and effort of coaches, and the opportunities that their parents give them to be involved in this great game. They are willing to be accountable and provide the effort at practices and games that is required to get to the next level. Anyone can be tough after a whistle but we want players who want to be tough to play against.
Being a team sport, the game of hockey can teach you life lessons when you’re open to them. Hopefully, players walk away with some positive experiences participating in the game and with others and become better hockey players, teammates and human beings. I believe in relationships and will be there to listen to players whether the subject is hockey or personal. Having been apart of many hockey organizations, I’ve had the opportunity of organizing some clinics and schools. I’ve would ask former players to assist and work these events and they always answered the call. The most gratifying experience coaching is talking with players you have coached several years later and they reminisce about the a time or event that occurred while on the team- it’s priceless!
Stick Taps for sharing
