INTRODUCING OUR U15 B/BB HEAD COACH FOR THE 2026-2027 SEASON JAMES ARMSTRONG Getting to know Coach James: What inspired you to become a hockey coach? I coach for many reasons but first of all is because of how much I love the game of hockey. I also coach to give back to my community and pay tribute to all the coaches I've had growing up in the sport. I also want to help young athletes grow and develop as people on and off the ice. I want to help them build character and confidence and other skills that will help them in their lives. How do you foster team culture? There are a couple ways I aim to foster a positive team culture. Firstly, it's important to build positive relationships with all players followed by setting clear expectations and creating a set of core team values. These values are based on attitude, respect and having a team first mindset. I also aim to model many of these behaviours for players, showing them appropriate ways to handle pressure, mistakes and how to communicate effectively. What does it feel like to be coached by me? I want all players to know I believe in them. I want players to have fun but also be pushed to improve. Players should know that mistakes are okay as long as they bring effort and a positive attitude. What do you want your players to learn or take away from this season? I want players to feel like they have improved as a player in all aspects of their game. I want them to grow as players but more importantly as people. I want them to have good memories and make lasting friendships. Who is your favorite NHL team? Toronto Maple Leafs Who is your favorite retired player? Favorite Current Player?
