Getting to know Coach Jeff:
What inspired you to become a hockey coach?
I was inspired to coach hockey because I felt I had something to add to Cambridge Minor Hockey after watching my son play his first 3 years under some excellent people. I continue to coach now as a non parent because I enjoy watching players have fun and develop.
How do you foster team culture?
I foster team culture by creating a fun, inclusive environment for all players no matter what level they played the previous year. I encourage them to buy in to a Team first philosophy.
What does it feel like to be coached by me?
I like to think that playing for me feels like fun first, with a healthy dose of competitiveness. We can all have a good time, but when it comes down to it, improving as hockey players and people is most important.
What do you want your players to learn or take away from this season?
I want my players to realize that becoming a better hockey player is important, but becoming a better person and teammate is just as crucial. A positive team environment with a commitment to each other can overcome many obstacles.
Who is your favorite NHL team?
Unfortunately I am a long suffering Maple Leafs fan.
Who is your favorite retired player? Favorite Current Player?
My favourite retired player is Wayne Gretzky, I always cheered for his team as a kid. He was simply the best ever.
My favourite current player is Mitch Marner. He encapsulates max effort all the time, and you can see his passion and competitiveness.
2026 Stanley Cup Champs are...
I think Tampa Bay will win the Stanley Cup in 2026
Who is your favorite music artist?
My favourite musical act has always been The Tragically Hip
Away from the rink you will most likely find me...
Playing golf, spending time with my family, or watching a wide range of sports on TV.
