Schedule & Results, Major PeeWee, 2012-2013, Select (Cambridge Minor Hockey)

The Hornets were facing a younger but very game and eager Stoney Creek team.  Although the first period ended 2-1 for the home side, most of the play and better chances were created by Cambridge.  During the second period the Hornets fell into some penalty trouble being down on 3 occassions 5 on 3, helping the visitors storm ahead with 3 unaswered goals.  As the period was ending Mark Law scored his first select goal off a scramble putting the home side down by 1 going into the third.  The 3rd period was without a doubt the best period for the club this year as they stormed the Stoney creek end time and time again.  Finally with just under 4 minutes to play Connor MacDonald scored his first select goal from the point to tie the game.  Less than a minute later the Hornets went ahead for good as Alex Davison made a dangling rush and firing a low wrist shot past a stunned Stoney Creek tender.  From that moment on it was nail biting time for the Hornets as Stoney Creek had a few zone to zone rushes only to be stopped by Big Brady Wilson.  Brady was chosen the Hornet of the game not for the number of saves throughout the game but for the timely saves he made to keep the game in it.
The Hawks look to build off of that win next Friday in Burlington.
