TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. This is an Ontario Minor Hockey Alliance sanctioned tournament.
2. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make any or all decisions.
3. All teams must be registered prior to the start of their first game, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Tournament Chair. You will not be permitted to play your first game without registering (even if you are at a different arena).
4. Any player or team official that has received a suspension prior to the tournament, and that suspension has not been served or completed, a review by the Tournament Rules Committee must take place prior to the first game, in order to determine that player’s eligibility in the tournament.
5. AP players are permitted in the tournament as long as they are on an approved AP list. No AP players can be used in a semi-final or championship game unless they have played at least one game during the round robin.
6. Players who are on an approved AP list and are also playing on another team that is playing in the tournament cannot play for their affiliated team until their primary team has been eliminated from the tournament, unless approved by the Rules Committee.
7. Teams cannot dress more than 15 skaters and 2 goalies for any game, with the exception of Minor Midget and Midget who can dress 17 skaters and 2 goalies.
8. There will be a two minute warm up prior to the start of each game.
9. All round robin games will have 3 ten minute periods for Novice through to Peewee. Minor Bantam through to Midget will play 10-10-15 for round robin games. All semi-finals and finals will be 10-10-15 for all divisions.
10.Each team MUST supply 2 sets of jerseys. The designated HOME team will wear White. Only players in complete uniform and roster approved coaching staff may occupy the bench area.
11.All teams must be ready to play 20 minutes prior to the scheduled game time.
12.All players, coaches and team personnel must vacate the dressing room within 20 minutes of their completed game.
13.A team official must escort any player ejected from a game to the dressing room. The player is to remain in the dressing room until the game is over and must be supervised at all times – no exceptions! Failure to comply with this rule could result in the player and the head coach being ejected from the tournament.
14.Any damage done to the facilities by a player or team official will involve their immediate removal from the tournament. Upon review, the team may also be removed from the tournament. Teams will be responsible for payment of any damage done to the facilities by any of their players or team officials.
15.Any team official ejected from a game must leave the bench and surrounding area. They will automatically be suspended for the next game and upon review may be ejected from the balance of the tournament.
16.All fighting majors, match penalties and gross misconduct penalties will result in immediate expulsion from the tournament.
17. Four minor penalties in a game will result in that player being ejected from the game. Second and third offences will result in being ejected from that game, plus an additional game. This is a tournament rule and does not carry over past the tournament.
18.The Referee’s decision is final.
19.Mercy Rule: If there is a five goal differential, the clock will run during the last 5 minutes of the third period. If the goal differential becomes less than 5, stop time will resume. This rule applies to ALL GAMES.
20.Curfews: May result during round robin play. Curfews can only be imposed by the Chair, or by the convener in consultation with the Chair. There will be NO curfews during semi finals or championship games.
21.Semi-final and Championship Games: If tied after regulation, there will be a five minute sudden death overtime, 4 on 4. If after overtime teams are still tied, there will be a 5 player shootout (all 5 players will shoot) If the game result is still undecided, then there will be a 5 player sudden death shoot out, using the same 5 shooters, in the same order. If it is still tied, a new five players will shoot, until a winner is declared. The first 5 shooters must be numbered on the game sheet, prior to the start of the game. The visiting team will number their shooters first.
22.Each team will be allowed one, 30 second time out during semi final and championship games only. There are no timeouts in round robin play.
