What A Weekend!
The Hawks entered their second tourney of the year, this tourney in Dofasco. Followed by a home game looking for revenge on Dundas for an earlier loss. See below for game details.

The Hawks headed into Dofasco for 2 Friday games, yay no school I heard from a few kids as I walked in the dressing room..haha. I knew they were ready to play!

First up, Cambridge was pitted up against the Lawfield Thunder, and came out strong. They took an early lead with Matthew Burtt knocking home a rebound off a Zachary Dolson shot and the Hawks were in flight. Not too long after though, the Thunder tied the game at one. The back and forth action continued throughout the game and Burtt potted his second of the game giving Cambridge a 2-1 lead three minutes into the third. Dolson and Nicholas Silva drawing the assists. Lawfield managed to tie the game up on a controversial goal, as instant replay would be been nice lol. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Ryan Kilpatrick played a solid game between the pipes, and the defense core held off a strong Lawfield offensive attack.

Game 2 of Friday, brought Cambridge up against hometown Dofasco team. The game had a good tempo to it and both teams were skating well. Dofasco threw everything at Colin Matheson early but he was great, keeping us in the game. The score was 1-0 heading into the third but Dofasco came on strong and racked up a few goals in a small amount of time and the game finished 6-0.

Game 3, Saturday, The Hawks took on the Jordan Lions, winner moving on to the semis. Jordan jumped out an early 1-0 lead but The Hawks weren't going down easy. Adam Floto went end to end and ripped a shot by the Lions goaltender to tie the game at 1. Jared Main drawing the lone assist. The lions then slipped 2 by Kilpatrick to take a 3-1 lead. The Hawks pick up the pace and brought it to the Lions for most of the second and third period. More possession, more passing, more chances. Things were starting to come as Cameron Squirrell got the puck to Brady Mackey and he fired a boomer past the goalie and the Hawks trailed 3-2. They kept the pressure on but couldn't find the equalizer despite a great effort. The lions win 3-2. That eliminated the Hawks but the improvement shown is looking better and better. The passing, defensive coverage, heads-up play all coming along well!
I was very proud of the way the team played in the tourney, against difficult teams, we gave each team a good battle and we walked out with our heads high.

With a quick turnaround (2 hours), the Hawks were back on the ice against an undefeated Dundas Blues team. Payback was on the mind, as Dundas routed the Hawks 8-2 earlier on in the year.
Cambridge came out flying!!!! The focus in the dressing room was to win each shift the players went on. and winning shifts they were.
Mackey opened the scoring 6 minutes to get the Hawks on the board. Squirrell drawing the lone assist. Three minutes later, Main banged home a rebound of a Frederick Law shot and the Hawks were up 2-0. The period ended and the players were pumped. The second period, The Hawks had some great chances to increase the lead but couldn't get the puck across the line despite a few close calls. Matheson once again shut the door and the second period ended up still 2-0. Dundas got on the board early in the third to cut the lead in half. But Law restored the 2 goal advantage firing a shot by the goalie from the slot. Main drawing the assist. Two minutes later, Squirrell made a great individual effort before getting the puck to Dolson to fired it top shelf for a 4-1 lead. Dundas cut the lead to 2 shortly after. Kilpatrick shut the door from there and with 2 minutes left, a quick three way passing play ended up with Mackeys second of the game, a quick bullet shot, from Squirrell and Travis Nederpelt put the Hawks up by four. But the line wasnt done, Mackey got his third of the game snapping home another quick hard shot from the slot, Squirrell and Mcconnell on the assists. and the Final was 6-2. Another strong defensive game from the back end (Floto, Ben Resendes, Jagger Adams, Mcconnell and Cameron Desousa who was everywhere). Also a shout out to Brayden French who played a strong game on both the offensive and defensive side of the ice.
Great game, great passing, great checking, hard work,  great communication. Really saw the team pull together and play to there potential tonight. Great job Hawks !!!!
