Organization - A Message from our President
Submitted By webmaster on Thursday, March 19, 2020
It goes without saying that as volunteers with Cambridge Minor Hockey, we are devastated by the abrupt ending to our season. However, it cannot compare to the disappointment our players must be feeling.  To all our players I say, sorry. I am sorry for those remaining Rep teams that were in Playoffs or Playdowns and perhaps even up in their series and now have to live with, “what if”.  My heart breaks for our House League program who was just 8 days away from completing the season and celebrating our 24th Annual Day of Champions.  We all understand the reason it had to happen and realize health is more important than hockey, but it still stings.

What is next?  Well to be honest we don’t really know exactly. It really depends on how long the COVID19 protocols are in place from Hockey Canada and what ice availability there is when we get the all clear to resume activities.  With regards to tryouts, August has been discussed for Minor Peewee to Minor Midget but it is too soon to determine a firm date. Our AGM and Registration will go as planned for now, I recommend that you regularly check the different hockey websites as well CMHA’s social media sites for updates.

Regarding outstanding costs that may have already been paid. Yearend Championship fees will be returned either through the Association or directly to the teams.  Any Tryout fees that had been submitted will be returned. Since for all intents and purposes the season was nearly completed, we will not be in a rebate situation.  However, if we found ourselves in a budget surplus the funds would be used to supplement next year’s registration as with normal practices.

Our House League leaders are making every attempt, keeping people health in mind, to get the divisional giveaways to every player.  We will look at scheduling some weekends or weeknight evenings to hand out to each division and those times and locations will be distributed to you as soon as they are finalized.  Please check the website and social media sites for information.

As we receive information, we will share it with our membership.  Until we are able to get back to the business of hockey, take care, be healthy and look after each other.
