We don’t even know where to start—what an incredible weekend for our U11 Hawks! Our families battled Toronto traffic and spent over six hours on the road to get to Montreal, and our little Hawks arrived hungry for wins.

Game 1 – vs. Streetsville Tigers
Our first game on Friday was a shock. The Tigers played aggressively and, at times, downright dangerously. We saw spears, checks from behind, and even one instance where a player was stomped on with a skate. The refs did their best but couldn’t catch everything.
Despite all of that, our Hawks never backed down. They pushed back, stood tall, and played with heart. After three tough periods, we took a hard 2–0 loss, but not once did they quit.

Game 2 – vs. Maine Evolution
Next up were the Maine Evolution, who unfortunately had to absorb the frustration from our morning game. Our Hawks came out with fire, racking up goals early and often. Even after we added a rule requiring four passes before a shot, the scoring didn’t stop.
Final score: 12–0 — the largest goal differential of the entire tournament.
But the real highlight? The Evolution kids never lost their cool; no dirty plays, no cheap shots. They played with true class, and their coaches deserved the respect we gave them afterward.
Friday night was pure joy—players and parents laughing, bonding, swimming, playing mini sticks in the hallways, and dodging hotel security like it was a street-hockey “Car!!!” call from the old days. Those friendships mean more than any trophy.

Game 3 – vs. Whitby Wildcats
Saturday morning, the Hawks woke up ready. Their teamwork shined with crisp passing and strong defensive play. Our goalies earned their second shutout of the tournament, and we took a clean 5–0 win.
That locked us into 2nd place overall and set up a gold-medal rematch with the Streetsville Tigers.
You can bet the Tigers saw those scores—12–0 and 5–0—and started wondering if Friday’s win was a one-off.

Game 4 - Gold Medal Game – Rematch vs. Tigers
We expected another rough game and planned to set the tone immediately. And we did.
For the first five minutes, the Tigers could barely get the puck out of their zone. Halfway through the first, we scored, and every player, coach, and parent took satisfaction in showing the Tigers what Hawks hockey really looks like.

But credit where it’s due: they’re a physical team, and they answered back.
After a gritty second period, we entered the third down 3–1.
One quick timeout. One quick reset. And our Hawks came out like a different team.
Post after post. Scrambles in the crease. Their goalie flopping everywhere just trying to stay alive. Then—with six minutes left—our centre fired one into what looked like a wide-open net.

He shoots—he scores! …Except the ref waved it off. Millimetres. Off the post. No goal.

Parents were in disbelief, but the Hawks kept pushing.
We pulled the goalie with two minutes left and absolutely peppered them, but the hockey gods weren’t with us this time.
Final: a frustrating 3–1 loss.

After the handshake, the Tigers coaches told us directly: “The better team didn’t win today.” And honestly? They weren’t wrong.
Proud Beyond Words

We could not be prouder of our players. They showed resilience, courage, teamwork, and—most importantly—true friendship. We are becoming not just a team, but a family.
Every player arrived focused, dressed professionally, and ready to compete.

Thank you to the families, bench staff, and volunteers who made this unforgettable.
Another silver medal.
Another incredible step forward.

Great job, Hawks! πŸ¦…πŸ₯ˆ
