Week 12 Results
As another week comes to a close the fans were once again treated to some special performances.  Great goals, timely saves, great back checking, slick passing - it seemed that the fans got to see a little of every thing this weekend.

The first match of the day pitted the seemingly unstoppable Penguins against the Sharks, who were trying to shake of their loss from last weekend.  It was a back and forth affair as the lead changed hands a couple of times.  Late in the game the Penguins pulled their goalie and were inches at times from the tying goal but the Sharks were lucky enough to get an empty netter to seal the win.  Both teams had a host of standouts as you might expect in such a high tempo, clean game.  For the Penguins a couple of nice passes by Eric McNamara stood out since they led directly to 2 goals and the defensive play of Nathan Demerchant shut down one of the Shark lines entirely.   For the Sharks the offensive story was a pair of players who recorded 5 points, Dylan Corrigan (2g, 3a) and Daniel Hernandez (2g, 3 a).

The second match of the day between the Flyers and Bruins was harder in some ways to gauge.  The Bruins came out skating hard but it became obvious after a while that is was going to be one of those games that all teams go through in a season where the chemistry just was not there.  The bright spot for the Bruins came early in the third when a pair of players recorded their first points of the season: Josh Wybrow and Bryn Palin.  Both their faces were amazing to watch and is why we should start charging admission to games.  For the Flyers, they deserve full credit for a 5-1 win, taking advantage of Bruins miscues to push the puck quickly up ice in odd man rushes.  Logan Kennedy (1g, 2a) seemed at times to have the puck on a string and Ethan Reynolds (2g) made a number of end to end highlight reel scoring rushes.

The final match of the day saw the Habs take on the Leafs and both teams played it hard, like an original six match up.  There were more blocked shots in this game than the other two combined.  It may also have been the most emotional of games as eyes of players on both benches were riveted on the action.  The Habs had stellar efforts from Tyler Spiegelhalter and Tristan Schaeffer-Gardner (1g)  who were notable at both ends of the ice.  The Leafs relied upon a very early goal by Luke Meadus and a very late goal by Carter Lynch and prevailed 2-1.

On a less pleasant note, there were a pair of hits to players heads this weekend.  In both cases it was clear that the acts were not intentional and in both cases no penalty was awarded.  However, keeping in mind our zero tolerance for this and the fact every player is responsible for the actions, I, as convenor, issued warnings for the coaches to talk with the player as has been the case for several weeks now.  Additionally I spoke with the parents to advise any further incident, accidental or not, penalty or not, would lead to a suspension.
