Hawks Go Undefeated in Barrie to win AA tournament!!
Submitted By Jason Ireton on Monday, January 7, 2013
The Hawks travelled to Barrie to compete in the Glenn Bellerby AA Tournament

They opened the tournament with a game against Gloucester. After trailing 2-0 in the first period the Hawks were able to come back and win the game 5-3. The second game of the round robin was a matchup with the North Bay Trappers. Cambridge scored first but the Trappers quickly answered and held the game tied 1-1 until the third period. Cambridge was able to score 3 quick goals late in the third to seal the 4-1 win. The final round robin game was a contest with the TNT. The Hawks proved to be too strong and blew through the game with an 8-1 win. Their perfect round robin record put them in first place in the novice division putting them into the semi finals against Innisfil. The semi final game turned out to be an extremely physcial battle with both teams fighting hard to push through to the championships. The Hawks were able to push through and crush Innisfil with an 8-1 win and a ticket to the championship game.

The championship game was between Cambridge and Gloucester. Both teams battled hard but the Hawks were able to score 2 goals late in the first to put them ahead. Gloucester kept pushing but Cambridge's defense and goalies proved to be impenetrable. Late in the second the Hawks' offense showed their power and put them ahead 4-0 heading into the third period. Cambridge opened the final period with a quick goal but Gloucester was able to answer with two of their own. The Cambridge Hawks held on and battled through the final period to trump Gloucester 5-2 for the gold!
