The Hawks welcomed the Burlington Bulldogs to Dickson Arena on Saturday night.  Coming off a strong tie against Kitchener, the Hawks were looking to carry that momentum into a win.  They did just that, beating Burlington 3-1.  This win guarantees the Hawks Novice Black team a spot in the playoffs.

Connor Gignac opened up the scoring for the Hawks with a short-handed goal in the first period.  Trenten Gillies got the assist.  Five minutes later, the Bulldogs tied it up with a power play goal.  That was the only goal they would get though as Aidan Bryans shut them down with his strong glove.  Bryans was focused in net and his defence were clearing the puck and battling hard.

With just 6 seconds left in the second period, Carter Whissell netted one from the face-off dot that went over the glove of the Bulldogs goalie.  Trenten Gillies was credited with his second assist of the night.

The third goal for the Hawks came in the third period with a goal by Nolan Branco, assisted by Justin VanderVelde.

It was another well played game by the Hawks.  It was great to see Luke McConnell making smart decisions and showing everyone that he can bring the puck into the offensive zone.  McConnell got off a few nice shots and the rest of the Hawks were ready to knock in rebounds.  McConnell was playing a two way game the smart way.

The Hawks are off on Sunday and play their last regular season home game on March 13 against the Waterloo Wolves.
