Minor Atom House League, 2012-2013 (Cambridge Minor Hockey)

Today the Minor Atom division saw the end to a fantastic and highly entertaining season with a hard fought championship game.  We also saw the players recognized for their various efforts throughout the regular season and in to the playoffs.  The banquet may have seemed a little drawn out, and I extend an apology on that score, but it was about the players so in the end I consider it time well spent by all of us.

Flyers article submitted: What a performance the Flyers put on this past weekend for all who came to watch. These boys had a blast this weekend. The endless games of mini-sticks, man hunt, swimming and of course lots of hockey.   It’s these times the kids will remember.   We get so caught up in the game and we forget how much fun was to be had; indeed, the memories and friendships will last for many years to come. What a fantastic group of boys!

In the midst of our heated playoff schedule this year in Minor Atom the Leafs participated in the Kevin Fegan Memorial Tournament held in St. Catharines.  In the first two games the Leafs played as well as they have at any point in the season but in the third game hit a wall against an outstanding team.

Rather than comment on the games this week I prefer to focus on the statistics that I record on this website.  (Flyers nation, I am not dodging the fact you had a great win this week over the Sharks).  I have chosen to do so since several people were sincere enough to share concerns and raise questions with me about the stats.  I appreciate that some coaches have tried to defend my good intentions but the onus lies on me to answer all parents (whether they like what I have to say or not).  As a result, I thought it best to clear up the air immediately.
