Hawks Make it Two in a Row!
The Hawks welcomed the Waterloo Wolves to town Thursday and prevailed 2-0 in a tightly contested game, giving them back to back wins. See game details below.

The Hawks rolled into Preston arena determined to make it two in a row against a very tough Waterloo team. The game started out early with Waterloo pressuring in the first few minutes but tough defense held together and weathered the storm and the first period ended scoreless with the play evening out through the period.

The Second was much the same as both teams had to work hard for their chances and when they came about, both goaltenders were there to stop the puck. Two close calls at each end had the crowd buzzing as the second period came to an end with the score still at 0-0.

With the third period, about to come, it was any teams game. But the Hawks came out strong and Cameron Squirrell banged home the rebound of an Alec Frias shot to open the scoring 3 minutes in. The turned out to be the eventual winning goal, as the Hawks led 1-0. Frias then popped in a goal of his own two minutes later to give Cambridge a cushion to work with.

Great penalty killing as well as the Hawks killed off 3 penalties in the period. It took a lot of determination but the players were up to it.

Waterloo came on strong late blitzing around the net and firing shots, but Calvyn Dragun shut the door, and added in a beauty kick save and earn the shutout. Final score ended in a 2-0 win for the Hawks.

It was a hard fought game, fast paced, and very entertaining! The team earned the result and should be very proud of the accomplishment. Great effort from the every player, each shift.
