Hawks fall in a tough loss
The Hawks tried to make it two in a row vs Waterloo but fell short in a very tough loss. Despite outshooting the Wolves, and controlling the majority of the possession, the Hawks lost 4-3. See below for game details.

The Hawks rolled into Waterloo looking for the season sweep but Waterloo held on for the 4-3 victory.

The first period saw chances at both ends but 2 goals in a span of 2 minutes put Waterloo ahead at the end of the first period. Some controversy on the first goal as it didn't appear to cross the goal line but the call was made, and the Hawks took the bad break in stride.

The second period belonged to Cambridge as they took the play to Waterloo. Cameron Squirrell took a breakaway pass from Alec Frias and buried the shot to cut the lead to one. Ethan Weitzel  picking up the other assist on the goal. Shortly after, James Mackey cut across the line and fired a shot by the goaltender to knot the game at two.
Waterloo struck back shortly after as they caught a bounce off the boards and the very nice shot beat the goalie, Adrianna Violi, off the post and in to regain the lead.

The third period continued to favour Cambridge in possession and chances, but Waterloo capitalized on their opportunites and made it 4-2. Frias cut the lead to one scoring on a breakaway with 2 minutes left to give the Hawks some hope. Squirrell and Jagger Adams picking up helpers.

But the Hawks couldn't find the equalizer and had to settle for the tough loss.

Despite the loss, the team played well, penalty free and can take away some positives from the game. The Hawks enjoy a week break before getting back on the ice for a couple games before they invade Orangeville for the winter classic tournament.

Good job Hawks
