Hello HAWKS fans!
What a game! The
crowd was kept on their toes (literally, we were standing) until the last
second for game 2. The HAWKS vs the
Burlington Bulldogs.
The HAWKS came out flying despite the Bulldogs striking first. Fast forward to the second period and our luck began to change. It all started with ARMSTRONG finding a puck in front of the net. He fired it past the keeper for his first goal of the season and the HAWKS were on the board!
With seconds to go in the 2nd the HAWKS were hit with one of several unfortunate bounces making it 3-1 heading to the 3rd. Burlington kept pressing in the 3rd but netminder MATHESON was having none of it, making some great stops to keep us in the game.
A score of 4-1 later in the last period made the HAWKS take it up a notch. POWER took the puck from the side boards and skated to the net and went low corner making the score 4-2. On the next shift SHEWCHUK jumped on a rebound and again went low corner to make it a one goal game. In the final moments the goalie was pulled in hopes of giving the HAWKS one last chance but time ran out.
The HAWKS showed tremendous improvement however a couple of unlucky bounces kept us from getting the first win of the season. Next game is on the road vs Woodstock this Saturday at 1 pm. No doubt the HAWKS will be hungry for their first win of the season. Keep up the good work HAWKS!!
