Our HAWKS hosted the Bulldogs from Burlington on Super Bowl Sunday.
Super is a great word to describe the team. Everyone gave 110% right from the drop of the puck. Burlington was able to put one in the net in the first period, but the HAWKS came back fighting. BELBECK scored to make it a tie game. Goals from SHEWCHUCK and GILLIES brought the score up to 3-2. BELBECK added one more with minutes to go. The HAWKS could feel a 4-2 win was in reach.
MATHESON was solid in between the pipes as she shutdown the Bulldogs on multiple scoring chances. MCLEOD, GALVAO, GARDNER, KNOWLES and O’BRIEN were on fire, making sure the Bulldogs efforts were squashed before they got to the net.
ARMSTRONG, WESTWOOD, POWER, PESSOA, BRAGANCA, and WHYTE all played hard and strong.
The effort and teamwork by all the HAWKS on both offence and defence was the reason for the victory!
Congrats HAWKS! You and the Coaches deserve it! Keep up the good work and pull in another win on Friday vs Kitchener with FERNANDES in net and BENDER back on the ice!
