One Game - One Win
The Cambridge Hawk Novice Black team faced their cross-town
rivals, the Hespeler Shamrocks in their first exhibition game of the
season. After only one practice
together, the Hawks downed the Shamrocks 4-2.
Connor Gignac started out the scoring for the Hawks with some lovely stickhandling through the zone. Later in the game, Gignac showed he can also share the wealth when he passed the puck out front to a wide-open Ryland MacPherson who shot a beautiful one-timer. It was a highlight reel play that really got the bench going. In the dying seconds of the game, Nolan Branco netted the Hawks fourth goal on a breakaway.
The Hawks defensive unit was also in full force. Alex Hammer kept the puck in the zone for the Hawks, while Justin VanderVelde threw around his weight.
Aidan Bryans had the start in net and looked sharp.
