What Was He Thinking?!
After a win in their first exhibition game this season, Head Coach Don Fletcher made the bold move of switching his lines up to square off in an exhibition game in Guelph this afternoon. Putting some of his highest scorers back on defence and some of his best defenders up on forward, Coach sent out his boys to face the Guelph Gryphons AA team.

Unfortunately, the Novice Black MD team dropped their first of a two-game exhibition series against the Gryphons 7-4.  While many players simply found themselves out of position, the Hawks were not outplayed.  Every player hustled, and didn’t let the score get them down.  This shows that the Novice Black team will have an all-around team this year and all players will contribute.

Luke McConnell started the scoring off shortly into the first period when he took the puck in off a face-off.  Connor Gignac wasn’t about to be kept off the score sheet just because he was playing defence, and he was able to score with a great pass from Nolan Branco up the middle.  Ben Hedges was digging in the corner for the whole game and made some great passes out front.

On the defensive end, Liam Westwood was able to get the puck up the boards and out of the zone.

Blake Fletcher faced 28 shots in net and was tired by the time the whistle blew.
